Portable breast pumps have been an absolute game changer for me since I am a stay at home mom and have so many chores to do during the day. Having a portable breast pump just makes me feel way more productive and makes traveling while pumping much easier. I can multitask and have milk ready for my little one when it is feeding time. In this article I’ll help you down find the best portable breast pump that you will absolutely love!

Best Portable Breast Pumps Moms that Travel

1. All-in-one M5 Wearable Breast Pump

This pump has been amazing for me so far. I love the hands free part of it! It’s great that it’s pretty quiet which I love, but it’s not low profile. You can definitely tell when you’re pumping.  Overall I love. Also, the high quality of the materials in the pump is great, no cheap plastic touching your boobs.

• Key features of this portable breast pump include:
– Quiet operation
– Holds up to 5 ounces of milk per pump session

– Easy to clean because it only has few parts

Cons I don’t like: It’s a bit pricey although many moms say that it’s definitely worth the investment. My one and only complaint is that you have to be careful bending down to grab something while pumping because it does leak from the spout.

2. S12 Pro Wearable Breast Pump

Portable breast pump for traveling moms

Initially, I was very skeptical of this pump when I ordered it, because I previously bought a Momcozy S9 and it couldn’t fully empty me. But I needed a portable pump and when I checked the reviews were great, so I decided to give this one a try. This pump is a game changer! I use it almost every day and it empties me just like my Spectra. I also think it’s help increase my supply. I love it! DON’T FORGET these come with a size 24mm flange which is huge. There is a nipple measuring tool that comes in the box so you can order flange inserts. If you’re not using the correct flange size with any kind of pump it could be painful and will not empty your breasts. This one is a little cheaper than the M5 so I did like that.

Cons I don’t like: Although a good option,  sometimes this pump teds to leak and it can be difficult to fit the proper flange. Some have also said that it stops working after a few weeks but that was not my experience.

3. S9 Pro Wearable Breast Pump Upgraded

With this pump I was really stuck on the fence debating on this or the s-12pro because I was going back to work and afraid that I would not be able to pump out but oh my gosh! I think this one is definitely worth it, not loud, amazing suction levels, not heavy at all and doesn’t slip off! I can bend over and reach and grab something without the pump becoming lose. It also helps when I pick up my little one. It doesn’t comes loose and leak out milk when he is moving around. I can honestly say that it really motivated me soo much to keep breastfeeding. I also love that it had great packaging and shipping! I received breast milk bags, a strap model and breast pad samples! Traveling with this was also a breeze while on the road. I also appreciate that their customer service are very responsive and understanding.

• Key features of this portable breast pump include:
– Offers a strong suction power
– Compact and has a lightweight design
– USB charging

Cons I don’t like: I have read that some moms did not like that it leaked a little bit. I believe this is due to them getting the improper falange fitting. At first, I did notice it was a bit loose on me but I contacted their customer service and they were able to send me a replacement falange right away. After it arrived the falange that sucks milk never leaked again. This was another added bonus for me.

4. V2 Pro Hospital Grade Wearable Breast Pump

Portable breast pump

I love this pump, at first I purchased the S12 pro and honestly I wish I got this one instead from the start. This pump is far more effective in every feature. The design is 100x better and it way more sleek and clean. Yes there’s a tube but that keeps the motor away from the milk so no risk of milk getting into it. The flange seals on it are much better, as well as the fit and comfort is much better. It expresses more milk from my breasts than the S12 did. I was actually surprised that it emptied me that well. Most pumps that I have tried haven’t had very strong suction and there would also be more milk left in me. With this pump I have not had that problem. I even think that this pump helps me to produce more milk since it empties me so well! I would absolutely buy this pump again.

• Key features of this portable breast pump include:
– Long battery life for longer pumping sessions
– Offers adjustable settings for comfort

Cons I don’t like: It has a tube that comes with it and I didn’t really like having to look out for where it wraps around.

Why use a portable breast pump?

The fact that traditional breast pumps, while effective, can tie you down (sometimes
literally) is not that hard to ignore. You see, sitting by an outlet for 20 minutes while
hooked up to tubes isn’t always practical. Portable breast pumps allow you to move
around freely, whether you’re folding laundry, traveling to work, or chasing after your dog.

Trust me when I say how valuable portability is for a breast pump. When I had my
second child, I couldn’t sit still like I did with my first baby because life had gotten
busier. That’s when I invested in a portable pump, and it felt like freedom in a little
machine.

What makes a portable breast pump – the “best”?
There are many things to consider when looking for the best portable breast pump. So,
here’s a list of things you should know.

1. Suction power and efficiency

You want a pump that mimics your baby’s natural nursing rhythm and gets the
job done quickly. Some portable pumps may sacrifice power for size, so check
reviews for performance. After all, doing your due diligence to research before
investing on a portable breast pump wouldn’t hurt.

2. Battery life

A good portable pump should last several sessions on a single charge – that
should be blindingly obvious. So, try to look for pumps with rechargeable
batteries or the option to use regular ones. In my experience, I had a hard time
looking for this feature but trying the brand MomCozy helped me out.

3. Noise Level

If you’re pumping at work or in public, a quiet pump is a must. Trust me, nothing
is more awkward than a loud “whirr” in the middle of a meeting.

4. Comfort

Repeat after me: Pumping shouldn’t hurt! Us moms are already brave enough –
no need for unnecessary chest pains when all we wanted is to feed our bubs!
Look for pumps with adjustable settings and soft flanges that fit well.

5. Ease of cleaning

For the safety of your baby and the reality of it all – you need to clean. A lot. So,
choose a pump with minimal parts that are dishwasher-safe or very easy to rinse.

6. Portability

Wearable breast pumps are what you want to pick if you are running errands or traveling and want express milk at the same time. These portable pumps allow you to transport them freely without having to hold them in your hands. They are usually two individual separate pumps that fit onto each nipple to express milk without having to be held.

How to Use a Portable Breast Pump

Using a portable pump is super easy once you get the hang of it. Here are a few tips:
• Find a Comfortable Spot: Even with a portable pump, you’ll want to feel
relaxed. Stress can make it harder to let down milk.
• Adjust the Settings: Start with a gentle suction and gradually increase it to what
feels comfortable for you.
• Use a Hands-Free Bra: This will keep the pump in place and allow you to
multitask.
• Clean After Every Use: Rinse the parts with warm soapy water or follow the
manufacturer’s cleaning instructions.

I hope this list made things easier for you when choosing the best portable best pump –
because it sure was hard for me! Having the right tools can make all the difference
when breastfeeding and portable breast pumps are perfect way to provide your baby’s
needs while giving yourself some freedom! Millions of moms are already using it!
